I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. “Record a CD.” Record a CD? “But Lord,” I thought, “I haven’t even written any songs yet!” Not only that, the journey the Lord had been taking me on was…well…not at all what I had expected. Let me take you back to the beginning.
My experience with music began with the piano in elementary school. In Junior High, I played the drums in the orchestra and the marching band. I loved music; it was a part of my life. Enough so that after I finished college, I took a songwriting class at UCLA and was very close to completing a few secular songs. Then, something happened that completely changed my life. The Lord through his grace saved me. I became a Christian September 16, 1995.
Then came another surprise; God told me to stop working on music. So I did. For the next 7 years I focused on studying the Bible and developing a relationship with the Lord. One of the things I remember so clearly during this time was how much I loved times of worship. The Lord even moved us to Applegate Christian fellowship where they had morning worship 5 days a week, Friday and Sunday night worship in addition to the normal Sunday and Wednesday services. I attended them all!
In 2003, the Lord directed me to return to music and to learn to play the guitar...
